Disc & Mega Replay Case Study: 24.6% Average Sales Growth Following GEO Launch

Four Disc and Mega Replay locations reported an average 24.6% increase in total sales from June to July following the launch of Digi-Buzz’s location-focused Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy.

In under three months, the project also documented participating stores appearing in Google Gemini recommendations and store-related content appearing in first-page Google Forums results. Together, these observations and client-provided sales reports form a case study in helping individual franchise locations build visibility beyond the national brand.

The Client: Four Locations, One Local Focus

This project involved Disc Replay Davenport, Disc Replay Rockford, Mega Replay Peoria, and Mega Replay Bloomington. These stores buy and sell video games, movies, and other pop-culture products.

The assignment was specific: focus on the owner’s four participating locations, not the entire Disc Replay or Mega Replay chain. Each store needed to be represented in the context of its own community and the products local shoppers were looking for.

That distinction shaped the work. A recommendation for the national brand was not the same as a recommendation for a participating store in Rockford, Peoria, Davenport, or Bloomington.

The Challenge: Improving Visibility Without Control of the National Website

Digi-Buzz did not have access to manage the company-wide website. The strategy therefore needed to support the participating locations without relying on changes to that site.

The client’s visibility goals were to appear more frequently in AI-generated answers and to be recommended for relevant shopping searches in each store’s area. The work also took place in an emerging channel where answers can vary between searches, making specific observations more useful than promises of permanent placement.

Our Approach: Proprietary GEO With a Local Emphasis

Digi-Buzz implemented a proprietary, location-focused GEO strategy combining locally relevant content with community engagement across the web.

For this project, the GEO work focused on improving how the participating locations were represented in AI-generated recommendations. Content and conversations emphasized the stores’ local relevance and the products shoppers were seeking.

The detailed execution remains proprietary, but the purpose was straightforward: strengthen each participating location’s online presence and support its visibility in relevant AI-generated answers. The focus stayed on the individual stores rather than the national brand.

The Results: Sales Growth and Observed Recommendations

The headline business result was an average 24.6% increase in total sales from June to July across the four participating locations.

This figure was calculated by taking each store’s individual percentage sales increase and averaging the four percentages, with each location given equal weight. It is an average of store-level growth rates, not a percentage increase calculated from the stores’ combined revenue. The figures are based on client-provided sales reports.

In under three months, the project also documented participating businesses appearing in Gemini recommendations for relevant local shopping queries. The case-study screenshots include searches for the best place to buy video games in Rockford and the best place to buy movies in Peoria, with the corresponding participating stores recommended in the observed responses.

Store-related content also appeared in first-page Google Forums results during monitored searches.

These examples document visibility observed during the project; they do not guarantee identical recommendations for every user or future search. The sales increase occurred following the GEO launch, but the before-and-after sales comparison does not isolate how much of that growth was caused by GEO.

A Client Success Worth Sharing

We’re proud to share the progress of these four Disc and Mega Replay locations. The project kept the franchise owner’s individual stores at the center of the strategy while documenting both AI-search visibility and a clearly defined sales result.

For Digi-Buzz, this case study shows the value of keeping local marketing focused on the actual locations being served—and keeping reporting specific about what was measured.
